The Del Sol Crew

Barry Cox heads up a highly professional, dedicated and fun group of wranglers, guides and support staff.

BARRY COX

Barry Cox is from Wallowa Oregon, and he heads up Del Sol Wilderness Adventures. A long time cowboy and horseman, Barry has many years experience packing, guiding and cowboying in the Wallowa Mountains. When he isn't in the mountains packing or guiding, he can be found teaching horsemanship at one of his many horse clinics.

SHIRLEY COX

Raised on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, Shirley joined the Del Sol team when she married Barry in 2010. She grew up on a small ranch in Alaska where horses and kids were a big part of her life for as long as she can remember. She has been a 4-H leader for over 25 years and trains horses and gives riding lessons in her spare time. She can share some wonderful stories about hunting and fishing in Alaska. If you're planning a summer trip Shirley will help make the arrangements to make your Del Sol trip a wonderful adventure.

SHAY MANN

Shay Mann lives in Joseph Oregon, and has been working with Barry since the inception of Del Sol Wilderness Adventures. He handles some of the packing chores as well as the logistics for getting clients to the appropriate trailhead and meeting places. If you have any questions regarding the status of your adventure, he is the man to call.

NORA HAWKINS

Born and raised in Wallowa County, Nora comes from a long line of ranchers and packers. Nora knows what it takes to pack into the Eagle Caps and Hells Canyon. Her attention to safety and detail make her a valuable asset to the Del Sol Team. She is smart, energetic, and always has a good story to tell.

JOHN WYNANS

With over 30 years of horse packing experience, John Wynans has seen it all in the wilderness. Born and raised in Wallowa County, John knows the Eagle Cap mountains as well as, or better than anyone alive. If you are fortunate enough to have him pack for you on your trip you will come away with some great first hand wilderness stories, told in a manner that only John can tell. He is very professional on the trail, owns a great sense of humor, and one of the most skilled packers around. It isn't uncommon for us to get personal request from clients that John be the man to pack them in and out of their camp. He is that well-liked, and deservingly so.

BOB LION

Bob Lion is Del Sol's premier camp chef. Bob has been packing, cooking and managing horse camps for Barry for many years. On Deluxe Camps, Bob keeps everyone fed and entertained. He runs a clean and fun camp with a very organized kitchen.
